CINCINNATI – Duke Energy and Local 12, WKRC-TV are proud to announce a new feature to air on the popular morning newscast “Good Morning Cincinnati.” School of the Week, powered by Duke Energy, is set for premiere in February 2018.

This weekly segment will air as a live report every Thursday between 6 and 7 a.m. Anchored by Sheila Gray, John Lomax, Bob Herzog and meteorologist Tera Blake, “Good Morning Cincinnati” is the most watched morning newscast in the tri-state.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to honor some of the people who really make a difference in the lives of our children," said Jon Lawhead, general manager of Local 12, WKRC.

Local 12 and Duke Energy's goal with this project is to connect with local educators in a way that is new and unique. Each week, selected area schools will be highlighted through a special nomination process and receive an award. The weekly segment will feature a School of the Week and will include public and private elementary, middle and high schools. Each week, representatives from Duke Energy will present the winning school with a check for $1,000 from the Duke Energy Foundation.

Schools that are nominated will have unique stories to tell – a creative teacher, a caring cafeteria worker or a motivating coach. The goal is to share uplifting stories to recognize someone or something special at a local school.

“Duke Energy is proud to partner with Local 12 on the School of the Week segment,” said Jim Henning, president, Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky. “Supporting our local schools is a significant part of Duke Energy’s mission, and this dynamic approach to being in local communities will help us connect more closely with our customers.”
