ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – When the Tampa Bay Rays win a game this season, it’s a home run for Florida fans.
Duke Energy will contribute $1,000 to Energy Neighbor Fund agencies for every Tampa Bay Rays regular season win.
“We want to ease the cost of sizzling summer heat for Floridians who struggle to keep their homes cool while making ends meet,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president. “Together with the Tampa Bay Rays, we can make a difference in the communities we serve and help those who need it most through the Energy Neighbor Fund.”
The Energy Neighbor Fund is a customer assistance program to help Florida residents in need pay for utility expenses such as electric, gas, oil or wood. Donations are matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $500,000, by the Duke Energy Foundation.
One hundred percent of funds collected are distributed locally, by county, on a monthly basis to 14 United Way and other social service agencies to assist Duke Energy Florida customers, based on need.
“The Rays are proud to work with Duke Energy Florida and help support the Energy Neighbor Fund,” said Rays President Brian Auld. “This is an important opportunity to give back to the Tampa Bay community and help families with their essential needs during difficult times.”
Residents who need financial assistance are encouraged to visit www.duke-energy.com/NeighborFund to locate available resources.
