Duke Energy Reaffirms Commitment to Raleigh and Eastern North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. - Duke Energy has reaffirmed its commitment to Raleigh and Eastern North Carolina.

"“As we continue to combine our companies, we maintain our focus on serving our customers across the state,”" said Brett Carter, president of Duke Energy North Carolina. “"At the same time, we are making commitments regarding our employees, our operations and our communities.”"

Duke Energy’'s pledge to Raleigh is simple. The company’'s commitments include:

  • Keeping 1,000 to 1,300 jobs in Raleigh. We will offer enhanced career development opportunities for all our employees.
  • Pledging $650 million in fuel-related cost savings, and we expect additional operational efficiencies will benefit customers over time.
  • Continuing to support our communities at levels consistent with our track record.

"“We are giving approximately $16.5 million annually in community support and charitable contributions in North Carolina for at least the next four years,”" Carter said. “"In addition, we are investing approximately $15 million over the next year in workforce development and low-income energy assistance.”"
