Duke Energy Florida recently announced the completion of the Jumper Creek Solar Complex in Sumter County. The site is part of the company’s plan to build 900 megawatts (MWs) of solar power in Florida by the end of 2028.

As Memorial Day approaches, the Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $45,800 to three nonprofit organizations honoring and supporting North Carolina veterans.

As communities honor the sacrifices of U.S. service members and their families this Memorial Day, the Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $30,000 to South Carolina nonprofit organizations who focus on the needs of veterans through the second round of funding as part of its America250 initiative. The grants – part of a total investment of more than $550,000 in the Palmetto State – have been awarded to Upstate Warrior Solution and Hidden Wounds and will help expand workforce development programs for veterans across eight counties.

As Memorial Day approaches, the Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $50,000 to five nonprofit organizations honoring and supporting Florida veterans.

Through its America250 initiative, the Duke Energy Foundation is awarding 20 grants to nonprofit organizations across Duke Energy’s six-state service area, along with an investment in the United Service Organizations (USO).

Duke Energy broke ground on its new project that will modernize and expand power generation at the existing Cayuga power plant in Vermillion County. Once complete, the project will increase generating capacity at Cayuga by 470 megawatts to a total of 1,476 megawatts – that’s enough to power 1.1 million homes in the company’s Indiana service area.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s in the coming days – and with humidity, it may feel closer to 95-100°F in parts of the Carolinas. For many customers, this may be the first time cooling systems are put to the test this season, causing them to run longer to maintain indoor comfort. Warm overnight temperatures can add to the strain, keeping systems running for extended periods. Duke Energy is encouraging customers to act now with simple steps and tools that can make a difference before the hottest days arrive – especially as spring’s dry conditions and high pollen levels may already be restricting airflow for some outdoor units.

As the summer season approaches and energy usage reaches its peak, Duke Energy Florida reminds customers of its Payment Assistance Finder, a tool to connect customers with bill assistance.

DOE financing is expected to save Duke Energy customers money through lower financing costs.

Today, Duke Energy Florida held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially unveil the Rattler Renewable Energy Center in Hernando County.
