This Halloween, Duke Energy Florida is reminding customers of the scary reality of energy “vampires” – appliances and electronics lurking throughout homes (TVs, cell phone chargers, coffee makers and more), using energy 24/7, even when they’re turned off, idle or in standby mode.

Duke Energy is asking customers in North Carolina and South Carolina to voluntarily reduce electricity use from 2-8 p.m. today, Sept. 18, to help reduce demand on the power grid during the day’s peak period.

High temperatures are forecast across the Carolinas this weekend and next week, and Duke Energy has tips to help you take control of your energy use while keeping you and your family cool.

Customers’ actions helped lessen strain on the electric grid and supported reliable service during one of the coldest mornings of the season.

Las acciones de los clientes ayudaron a reducir la carga sobre la red eléctrica y contribuyeron a garantizar un servicio confiable durante una de las mañanas más frías de la temporada.
