As communities honor the sacrifices of U.S. service members and their families this Memorial Day, the Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $30,000 to South Carolina nonprofit organizations who focus on the needs of veterans through the second round of funding as part of its America250 initiative. The grants – part of a total investment of more than $550,000 in the Palmetto State – have been awarded to Upstate Warrior Solution and Hidden Wounds and will help expand workforce development programs for veterans across eight counties.

As Memorial Day approaches, the Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $50,000 to five nonprofit organizations honoring and supporting Florida veterans.

Through its America250 initiative, the Duke Energy Foundation is awarding 20 grants to nonprofit organizations across Duke Energy’s six-state service area, along with an investment in the United Service Organizations (USO).

Duke Energy broke ground on its new project that will modernize and expand power generation at the existing Cayuga power plant in Vermillion County. Once complete, the project will increase generating capacity at Cayuga by 470 megawatts to a total of 1,476 megawatts – that’s enough to power 1.1 million homes in the company’s Indiana service area.

The Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $275,000 to 15 nonprofit organizations that are helping meet Floridians’ most basic, essential needs and increasing access to quality health care, affordable housing, workforce development and more.

The Duke Energy Foundation is committing $1 million to support nonprofits across North Carolina that deliver critical community services, including housing stability, food access, health care, utility assistance and more.

The Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Duke Energy Florida as a “Tree Line USA” utility for the 20th year in a row for its tree care practices and environmental contribution.

On April 18, Duke Energy recognizes National Lineworker Appreciation Day and the lineworkers who keep the lights on across South Carolina. From year-round grid work that improves reliability to storm response, lineworkers bring skill, teamwork and a strong safety focus to the work customers depend on. To help grow the workforce in the Palmetto State, Duke Energy Foundation is granting $75,000 to programs in South Carolina that train tomorrow’s lineworkers.
