Duke Energy Foundation is investing $500,000 in North Carolina community colleges to help strengthen the state’s energy workforce and prepare students for high-demand craft and technical careers.

To help families in need with their electric bills this winter, Duke Energy Foundation has invested $187,500 into the Share the Light Fund, approaching $520,00 over the past year.

Duke Energy Florida recently hosted its Neighborhood Energy Saver Program in North Greenwood. While over 1,400 local customers are eligible to participate, approximately 75 attended the event, held at the North Greenwood Recreation Center, to learn how they can receive a free walkthrough energy assessment of their homes and help lower their monthly electricity bills.

As Winter Storm Fern brings severe winter weather across parts of Duke Energy’s Indiana service territory, the Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $55,000 in rapid response grants to 21 organizations to help communities withstand storm impacts and sustained cold temperatures this weekend and into next week.

Duke Energy Florida will give away 1,000 free trees to its customers as part of its ongoing collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation. On Florida Arbor Day, Duke Energy Florida customers can request a free tree online while supplies last.

Qualified nonprofits in Duke Energy-served communities can apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 to support veteran workforce programs, community green space improvements and more.

Through the Share the Light Fund®, Duke Energy, its Foundation, customers and employees have contributed more than $670,000 in South Carolina to community agencies this year alone – helping neighbors keep their homes warm and powered when it matters most.
