Although Hurricane Matthew is no longer a threat, the devastation it created continues to be felt by thousands of people in the Southeast. Duke Energy today announced a donation of $325,000 to help seven charities providing disaster relief assistance in several of the states it serves – North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

Duke Energy today announced a donation of $100,000 to Unite Charlotte. This new community fund was established in response to the recent unrest in Charlotte and will support programs and organizations focused on community healing, rebuilding trust and creating opportunities, including work being done by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Opportunity Task Force.

Through the Victories for Veterans program, a unique partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Duke Energy Foundation committed $1,000 for every Rays win this season to charities that support veterans in the community. In reviewing the submissions from area nonprofits for the program’s funds, Duke Energy has increased its pledge to $90,600 to be distributed to 10 local nonprofit organizations.
